BEng MSt (Cantab) PhD CEng MICE
I have been a Parent Governor at The Arnewood School for over 9 years and recently became the chair of the Governing Board to help and support senior management and teachers in providing the very best alternative provision education experience. I am a Chartered Civil Engineer and have worked in higher education for 30 years and currently the Head of the School of Engineering at the University of Southampton.
Dr E Stack – Curriculum and Assessment

Dr Emma Stack GradDipPhys MSc PhD
I am the Parent Governor at Eaglewood (focusing on curriculum and assessment), having enjoyed being a governor at a New Forest primary school. After 20 years in Parkinson’s disease research, I now concentrate on writing full-time. My background in Human Movement Science means I am familiar with the principles of teaching and learning and I still occasionally teach post-graduate students. However, I am happily the lay member of Eaglewood’s Governing Body, using my experience and giving my time to support my fellow governors and our excellent school.
Mrs C Whitlock – Staff Governor – Pupil Premium and LAC

My name is Claire Whitlock and I have had the privilege of being a teacher of Eaglewood School since 2016. After spending over twenty years in education, I still feel passionate about making a difference. I am a Mum of two teenagers and understand the daily challenges of parenting. Together with a team of amazing and creative teachers, I am committed to providing our pupils with a nurturing and developmentally sound foundation for a lifetime of learning.
I am Lead Key Stage Two teacher with a whole school responsibility for Assessment and Reporting; assessing pupils’ Academic Development (IQ) and Social and Emotional development (EQ), whilst reporting their achievements to parents/carers and home schools. At Eaglewood, I know that our pupils need an extra helping hand to guide them and I strive to create and maintain an environment where they can grow and thrive to become balanced individuals… better versions of themselves!
Mrs H McCartney – Staff Wellbeing and Workload Governor

I have been a Governor of the school since Autumn 2021. Initially as a Parent Governor and more recently as Governor overseeing Staff Wellbeing and Workload. From an early age my daughter struggled in a mainstream education setting and has benefited from the nurturing environment of Alternative Provision schools since she was 5 years old. Her time at The Eaglewood School was instrumental in helping her grow and equipping her with the tools to succeed in Post-16 education. Whilst my daughter has now left the school, I continue to share my time and experience
in Human Resource Management to help the school evolve and achieve its mission of raising aspiration and changing lives.
Mr J Whitlock – Health & Safety

With over 30 years running my own building business and having been a previous employee at Eaglewood School, as the bus driver and part of the Outdoor Ed team, I feel that I can offer my expertise and therefore fill the role of Health and Safety Governor. I now work at a local infant school as a Site Manager and am up to date with all essential key courses, required for high standard maintainance. Having spent quality time at Eaglewood school, I am delighted to remain part of the team, who are dedicated to making a difference to the lives of their students and give an abundance of care and attention to them all.
Cheryl Barker – Safeguarding Governor

I have been a Governor at Eaglewood since October 2022. Firstly, as a parent Governor and when my daughter left school in 2023, I stepped into the role of Safeguarding Governor, a role I take extremely seriously. From the very first moment we walked into Eaglewood all those years ago we knew it was special. School was always a really scary place for our daughter, and with the unwavering support of each and every teacher, she is now a thriving 17-year-old in the second year of her hair stylist apprenticeship. For that reason, I will continue to support this extremely special
school in any way I can as every child deserves to feel safe and supported through education. When not working as a Customer Experience Manager or being mum to my two girls you’ll find me down at the beach with our Welsh Terrier, Stanley.
Jane Coe – Governor

I work with children and their families alongside other professionals to achieve best outcomes at a time of need. My background is special educational needs and mental health within school setting, charity work and early help. I have knowledge and experience to support young people and their families during challenging times helping them to make positive change and build resilience. I also run Parenting Programs to support with change and help children who have experienced trauma with 1-1 intervention. Eaglewood school is fortunate to be able to have a bespoke package
for students in a smaller setting to mainstream schools helping students to build resiliency, break down barriers to learning and enable students to gain positive life skills to support their journey into adulthood – I share this passion.
